Well... I had my first SAT Subject Test ever. That was during May 2009.
Aaaaand. Now chances are, I'm going to take what I learned and adjust my approach:
1) Actually NOT study the night before and
2) Take more practice exams and
3) Not bother to take notes on my errors, just
4) Eat lots of bananas and briefly acknowledge them while
5) Talking out loud to myself because that's supposed to make you remember.
GIVEN that.
I'm going to start studying for Math II now! That's right. That's... 3 weeks before it? Wooow, that usually doesn't happen!
Going to start with Barron's Math II. I also have Kaplan and Princeton Review.
Now for this one, I heard that Barron's is way harder than it is. And that if you get a 680 or something on its practice tests, you're bound to get an 800.
I'm going to be naive again, and just like how I said I wanted to self-study 5 APs before... I'm going to attempt to even get the advanced concepts in Barron's.
I mean, we're going to have to use pre-calc in our lives anyways right? This actually does have real life applications! As opposed to calculus, some say...

SAT Subject Math II Miniblog
Yea. Just discovered that I "should" take the SAT II in June because that's when we would have finished the Advanced Pre-Calculus course.
... OH WELL. How bad can it be?
OK wait. I shouldn't say it. 1) I'll jinx it and 2) I've had my share of the "worst" of the "how bad it can be" outcomes.
If I just have the time to self-study...
But the thing is, I can barely find time to self-study AP Psych and AP Human Geo already with the time I'm pouring into ECs. Perhaps I should be more efficient with time?
Such as instead of going on msn...and facebook...I should put my status to "away" to prevent a lot of people from chatting .. as well as visit FB only on the weekends.
OK, sounds like a plan. (That will fail, I whisper).

OK. I should be OK. Just practice, practice, practice. Remember, display your talent for math.
But WAIT a second! I have no talent for math! I like math, but that doesn't mean anything.
Greaaaat.
Now I'm hoping that I am in nature a very modest person about my math skills -- yes, I still don't have a great grasp of my own skills. I only recently made the conversion to "conscientious student" ... in Freshman year, mid year. As my low first semester GPA only too clearly demonstrates.
But I digress. As I was saying. Math II Subject Test? Just a bit not looking forward to it, yet inside also anticipating. Mixed feelings.

Well yes.
It's time for ...
One of my first SAT Subject Tests ever!
So here's the "miniblog" where I ramble all about my ... adventure through the Math II Subject Test. Interested? YES.
Now some things. The "recommendations" or even requirements that students take SAT Subject Tests makes me really question why.
WHY are we required to take the SAT IIs? Well the colleges would want to differentiate between the better students and the ... "not so better" students. ...
This does bring into the question of the whole system of education. It's interesting that we should take these standardized tests. For debate tryouts actually, we had to discuss this point. Isn't the entire education system flawed? The SATs, flawed? Why test students on subjects that they won't use in the future anyways?
And I must say ... even now. I'll say that these tests are in fact necessary.
See, intelligence defines a large part of human progress. So what education serves to accomplish is "enable" that intelligence, and see who is most capable of it. However, I'm also thinking that this definitely couldn't be fair for those who cannot afford the education or schooling. Of course, there are now measures to increase the chances for those who are disadvantaged, but ultimately, something is required to measure that education.
Standardized tests I guess, are an "unfortunate" yet necessary truth that we'll have to face. So since we "need" to take the test, might as well make the best of it! That is the attitude I'll use to face all my standardized tests. :)
