Sighh....
My ambitious plans for self-studying AP Human Geography has fallen apart.
Why?
Well I find myself needing more time to prepare for the SAT Subject Tests of US History and APUSH that I just do not have the time for Human Geography.
Don't get me wrong -- there are many out there who claim that they've done the entire thing just by reading the book several times the last week.
I have no idea how they do that.
Then again, when I really think about it, while I appreciate the knowledge that the AP Human Geography can give me (as well as telling you, my friend :) about my experiences with the APs and various books) -- I guess I'm not going to be dong a lot with Human Geography in college.
So I guess it worked out in the end.
Good news though -- from what I've learned, I can always use the terms learned in AP Human Geography with my quiz team adventures :D.
Like I said with the 2 other APs that I've originally intended to self-study but soon had a reality-check -- knowledge is power.
It can't hurt, but you need to know about your limits.

Entry # 9 - WHY? WHY am I SELF-STUDYING APs????!
Some say "here it goes".
Here comes the "realization". The "rant". Here it comes.
Well, sometimes I wonder why I self-studied APs.
It won't help me in colleges -- I'll just have to take harder courses (or so I heard), damaging my GPA).
Who cares if you take more APs? I mean, there are so many courses you can "skip".
For all I know, 5 APs is the same as 12 APs (I'm planning a 3, 5, 4). Quantity is not good! And chances are, with greater quantity comes less quality! NOT GOOD.
So I ask myself, WHY am I taking all these APs?
Well I must admit that the initial reason was because I thought that I would do well on them, and so I might as well show that I have the ability to do well in them, and in cases such as psychology and human geography -- interesting, and curious to know what it was, exactly [respectively].
That eventually turned into a 10% I paid for them already, might as well go, a 50%, I literally have nothing to do in addition to the opportunities my extra-curriculars offer me especially as, in the second semester, activities start to decline, as well as a 40% wanting to know more. Just know more.
I guess it's one of those decisions that I don't regret (unless I receive a score report of 3 O=)
Let's hope I didn't make a bad decision :)

Excuse my weird titles :).
I just realized that Human Geography really takes trends and facts we observe in our daily lives, whether that be the organization of the city or trends we are only too familiar with in history class, and really organize it.
It's interesting how there can be a subject out of these "obvious" things -- interesting how they present the information in a new light such that we come to see the patterns that lie underneath.
It's still a "studier", but I'm beginning to like HG.

No... I can't turn back now.
I already paid.
But I've been doing some college research. And I ask myself, WHY.
WHY am I taking AP Human Geography?
Well currently I am struggling with some things, and if I had to eliminate one of the following: English, Science, Math, or Socials, it would probably be English or Socials first.
But the thing is, now I feel like I've "ran out" of things to take. APUSH has been inspirational. I know I'll take AP Economics as it sounds very appealing -- but that would be in 12th grade.
And the top top reasons I am now self-studying ...AP Comparative Gov. Is that something I want to do? But most importantly -- is AP Human Geography something I want to do?
I'm just flipping through the book now. I get a vibe. But not a strong one... Why did I even start studying this? Because I was curious as to what it was.
When I am lost...I look to science. Does the subject have science? Now APUSH is a clear exception (and now I attribute that to my awesome teacher who is great :)), ... AP Human Geo does have a bit of science. It's like the humans are the guinea pigs.
Not bad.
But still. No strong vibe. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Previously I would have either given up on it, or pretended that I liked it. But pretending is never real, and I've only learned too well that pretending won't get you anywhere (i.e. the failures of my freshman year when I went to sports and did not manage to get anything because inside, I did not like it).
So I have to look inside. Do I see different types of maps as something I want to study? Well my cynical reply is -- I wouldn't mind it.
But... I don't mind EVERYTHING in that case.
Ooh Fordism. What is that? Oh, the perfection of standardized mass production.
That reminds me -- the thing is, I don't see AP Human Geography as a challenging course. If anything, I would be taking it (initially I admit that I wanted to fit an extra AP in there, but now I doubt it... does it really matter? I really want to take as many APs as 1) I can take and 2) I actually like. I can be pro in the stuff I like).
Side note is that this is somewhat difficult for me, as I like a lot of things <_
